Anthony,
How is your search going? A home that sits on the market is either over priced or in poor condition. Some sellers want to price their home high but are willing to take much less. If you like the home, run the comps (comparable sales in the same neighborhood), and make an offer based on the average sold price for that neighborhood. Call if you need any assistance.
Thanks,
Chris

Anthony,

As far as buying a home, it doesn't matter the length of time as a solitary measure if you are tying to get a good deal. You are looking for value in the home.

That does not mean that you cannot make the seller an offer. They may be anxious to sell, or they may be willing to sit on the home for 2 years. We just can't tell.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you need further information about the home in question.

It really depends on the area. In my area the average days on market is 180 days and up. Ask your local expert they have the information available.

Anthony,

6 months is not ridiculous in todays market, depending on where you live. That would be quite long for our area, but in yours it might not. I would not let that deter you into making an offer though. I always tell my clients that are looking into property that has sat on the market for a while to look for the reason why. I also remind them that buying property is always an investment, and if its been out there for a while for the current owners, what makes you think it won't be for you when it's time to sell.

Good luck!
