According to "Sperling's Best Places" (see link below), Englewood has a crime rating of 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being low crime and 10 being high crime). You can probably find other statistics by Googling "Crime rate Englewood, FL".

Home maintenance is mainly influenced by the heat and sun in Florida. You will find that you may have to replace a roof every 10-15 years instead of every 20 years as you would up North. You don't have to worry about freezing down here so you won't have problem with frozen pipes and you also don't have to winterize your swimming pool or boat. Most home down here are built of concrete block which greatly reduces the chance of termite problems. You will find that during the winter months you will probably still be mowing the lawn every 3-4 weeks and weekly in the summertime especially if it's an active rainy season. There are paints specifically designed for the Florida sun and heat so that you won't be frequently be painting the exterior of your house.

The best way to address the issue of crime and neighborhood safety is to defer questions to the local police or county sheriff's department. The have access to the most accurate and current information.

As far a home upkeep, more specific information would be necessary to support your interests. Generally speaking, Englewood is a very desirable location offering a nice quality of life to its residents and opportunities for home buyers to enjoy great savings at this time.

Englewood across the board has a low crime rate compared to many other areas of Florida. You did not specify what area of Englewood it is you are interested in. With some neighborhoods all of the home owners keep up their homes and in some neighborhoods not so much. It's really a site specific question. If you are interested in a particular home or homes I have a contact that can run a crime report on the immediate area to give you a sense of what issues if any are in any location. Far as the "upkeep" of homes that is a judgement call and the best way for you to make that call is to drive around the various neighborhoods. Curb appeal speaks for itself.
