how do i find out if the home i am looking to buy is in the flood zone?

I was told it is in zone D but I dont understand what that means!

I just found out it is actually in flood zone B... does that make a difference on flood insurance rates and tha stuff?

As per our MLS, zone D: Unstudied areas where flood hazards are undetermined but flooding is possible. No mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements apply, but coverage is available in participating communities.

You can call any insurance agent and get a quote on the property. They will tell you if it's in a flood zone.

FIRST ANSWER

Dear Patricia,
If the house is listed on the MLS, jsut ask your agent. It should be available to them from the information provided. If it isn't on the MLS, you should go into the town hall and speak to someone there who can provide you with the information, Make sure what ever information you get, you get in writing, not just someone telling you verbally .
