You should be able to find the sale price in the public records at this website:
http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/
or at your local tax office if you want to make the drive.

You can ask a realtor to look this information up for you. If you prefer, you can go to the local tax office and they will tell you.

That's easy, Contact a Realtor, and they can seach public records for you to see when the home settled last. Tom

HI there Merks, the tax records are a good place to start, usually shows purchase date and price paid. Those records are accessible to the members of the MLS system - your agent should be able to help you with this question more specifically and also in quantifying market value, which is the real number you are after. Certainly what the seller paid, and what the seller owes are important to understand motivation, but the market value based on comparable sales is the real measure of value.

Good luck,

What they paid is important - what they owe is more important.
You may want to work with a REALTOR who will represent you in the purchase.

Recent activity can be obtained from my web site. http://www.RealEstateInOceanCounty.info
It will also give you Monmouth County, depending what MLS system you select.

Go to http://www.ocnjtax.com . On the lef side of the page you'll click on a tab that says oc.taxrecords.com and enter the address. When you pull up the address, click on the lot number and all the property information will come up. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Good luck.
