Good Afternoon. Most cities and counties have not made all of their records available online. You will want to call the local county office and ask them if they have the records available for viewing in micro fiche so that you don't drive unnecessarily.

Most building departments will at least keep a microfisch history of just about any/all developed parcel. However, tracking that down online as others have stated could be a bit of a challenge. You would really need to pay a visit to the BD for more thorough and accurate info.

But be advised that if you're looking for information regarding building permits for improvements you may not always be successful as many building jurisdictions don't keep a complete history of permits. In fact many only keep them for ten years or even less. In most cases they throw away the plans after a few years simply because they just don't have room for them. As a general contractor for the past 3 decades I've run into this many times. Good luck.

"Public Records" DO go back to 1950 and before - from the time of the first land patent (deed issued by the government. However public records displayed on the internet may not show the entire record. You would need to go to the County Clerks office and look through the records located in their office.

An easier process would be to see if could get a title report or "Chain of Title" from a title company. It would probably cost a few dollars, but is a whole lot easier.
