how can I estimate roughly hazar and flood insurance costs for a home? Is there a quick calculator?

You can find the estimated premium cost for you house at http:// www.floodsmart.gov as well as a lot of other helpful information and insurance agents serving in your area. You should contact an insurance agent to obtain an exact quote for your property.

Go to Miamidade.gov and put in the address and you will get the flood zone. I would defintely call an insurance agent with the correct information. I heard of a closing where the price of the flood went from 1 to 6 thousand the day before closing-this house was on the water-but I would get a quote in writing, more than one too. Remember there is wind and contents, two different. You will probably have to buy three insurances. Work on this early in the transaction. For hazard and flood insurance you need to know the address--different areas of the region have different insurance ratings and requirements--some need no flood insurance at all.

FIRST ANSWER
your county website probably has a tax estimator--go to the property appraisers site on the county, or the easiest way is to call a realtor--easy info to share with you. Insurance--easiest way is to call an independent agent in the area, give them an address, and their software enables them to pull up a quote for you within minutes. Easier than you surfing for answers!!
