Having the entrance on a side road gives you the advantage of having an address that will not be seen as being on a main road so that's an advantage as many buyers avoid "main St" addresses. However, a corner lot can usually mean more in taxes, more sidewalks (if they exist) to be responsible for.
So it has pluses and minuses. Ask for history from your agents as to what other homes in this area have sold for recently and ask for a copy of the field card to review the home's assesment and other information as recorded at town hall. This will help you determine if the home is priced correctly or where to start your offer. Condition and design of the home greatly affect home values but they can be upgraded over time. The one factor that a home owner can not change is location so you will have to use comps to determine what this home's value is to you. Here's a simple way to answer... if you hve to ask yourself that question, chances are future buyers will ask the same question when you try to sell. Therefore, it's not a plus. Let me know if I can help you more.

In part, property values are determined by condition & location.
A corner house can be a positive, however being at the entrance of a development can mean increased traffic flow, which would mean its value could be lower than the identical house located further into the development. I have seen properties have their value "dinged" because of traffic. Mon Apr 28 2008, 16:01 Web Reference: http://www.forsalebyforsey.com

Usually a house on a corner lot in neighborhood would be a definate plus, however if it is on the corner of a main road, it could be considered a deterent. However, you can usually get a better price on that type of house, so if price is an issue for you, you can get into a better neighborhood with a better house if you buy on a corner.

Some other factors that would affect resale are: is it near any common services or amenities? Does it have a lot of traffic by it because it is near the entrance? A good indicator might be to see how it is priced today as compared to the ones farther in.

The answer depends on how the house is placed on the lot and the neighborhood. A corner lot can be considered a plus because the house does not have neighbors on both sides. However, if the house is very close to the curb and not private, then that would be a negative.
