In addition to Bill's excellent advice, you should just contact an independent insurance agent who will offer you the best quote based on the property's criteria.
If the property was built in the last 10-12 years, I highly recommend getting a mitigation inspection. This costs about $125 - $150 - they come to inspect the property, go inside the attic checking the roof and construction of the home to determine how sturdy the property is in the case of a potential hurricane. They complete a report and it is submitted to your insurance company. If you don't receive a discount of at least the amount you paid for the inspection, then your money is refunded, no questions.
I just had to change insurance companies because I was with Coral Insurance who just went under. My new policy was less than with Coral, so I was pleased, it was $2,800/yr. However, my agent recommended the inspection and I just received a discount of $800!! I am recommending this to all my clients. The company I used is Don Meyler Inspections 954-972-7311 and their website is http://www.winstorminspections.com.
Good luck.
