If you put the address of the property for sale into trulia.com they have a crime tab among many others like amenities, map, etc if you click on it, it will show you an up to the week report of any crime in the area for the year. It is an excellent resource because they use color blocking and you can easily see if there are blocks of problem area's anywhere near the property. Also check crimereports.com it will actually tell you what crimes were committed nearby in the last few weeks and also where and what type of sex offenders live nearby, good info!!

Your best source is the local newspaper or the local police department web site. They maintain and update maps with statistics on crime.

This is a very popular question on Trulia.... Its always a different place, But its the same Answer...
If you really, really want to know if anywhere is safe, Call local law enforcement... They know the area better than anyone and will give a straight answer!

Im in agreement with SuzZ, the district police department that will serve the area is your best best. Also, many of my buyers knock on neighbor's doors just to chat face-to-face with the people who actually live in the area. Best of luck!

Hello Tony you can go to my website http://www.makedenvercohome.com and go to market Insider you can punch in a zip code and find all the information you would like community info, local schools, crime risk, compare areas and insider tips.

You may also want to check City-Data.com. It has a lot of information about not only crime rates but schools and overall demographics.

Hi Tony,

We as agents are not allowed to comment on the crime and safety of a particular neighborhood. I will say tha there are some government sites (Denver.gov - http://j.mp/Li5AIP) and some private sites like (Spot Crime Map - http://j.mp/RbnugZ) to gather information. The other way to get info for a certain area is to contact the local police department and the local fire department. Statistics are one thing, actual living conditions are another. They do not always correlate. Best of success with your search.

There is a great website for demographic information, including, I think, crime rates. It's http://www.zipskinny.com. You just plug in the zip code and it gives you tons of good information.
