Dear Jane,

Are you looking to buy something to inhabit yourself or to rent out? Chances are getting something that is in move in condition in the price range you describe will be quite difficult if not impossible. Buying something to put a few dollars into to fix up and rent out, then you might have a better shot. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Anything is possible regarding price. You just have to look in the right places.

Would you really want to live in a studio that costs $2,000 in Chicago?

As far as downpayment, sure can get it done with $5,000.

Hello

Are you looking to put down $2000 to $5000 or purchase a property for that amount?

If you are looking for a property in that price range it actually is possible but would require a ton of work.

Best of luck

My client just purchased a 2-flat on the south side for $8,000 so it's totally possible. Keep in mind the property will be in terrible condition and will more than likely not be habitable without major renovations.
