The information you seek should be in public records at the local court house. You could call a Realtor and get them to do the leg work for you! Then you can either contact the new owners personally or get your Realtor to that for you as well. Good Luck! I think that is an awesome goal.
You could actually engage a realtor to represent you directly to the owners. If the realtor can get a dialog going - you may be in luck. If you are serious (and it sounds as if you are) the direct approach via a realtor will give you credibility.
Otherwise, they're liable to think you are some sort of con man and not give you the time of day. People are wary of strangers and with the increased reports of Real Estate fraud - I can't say I blame them.
I do however applaud your endeavor and wish you the best of luck. But all the information in the world isn't going to get them to sell the house to you. Go with a representative - besides credibility the realtor will give you information on the actual market value of the home.
It's a win win all around!
C,
Did you get the sale information from the tax records? Armed with this info, write a letter to the new owners with a good offer (based upon the current market rate) and your sentimental reasons for wanting the property back. Appeal to their better nature, and perhaps you'll get lucky! let us know how it goes... Best wishes!
Go to your local county assessor's or records office. Depending on where you reside, you might be able to search the county records online by using only the address.
