Mortgage discrimination is against the law. The equal credit opportunity act (ECOA) prohibits credit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age or whether you get public assistance. Dissability it should not be the issue, your income and credit history should be.

Maria, Jacques, and Karen are right on. Instead of getting a mortgage, think of "financing" your home purchase. Seller financing, and 2d mortgages are common in your area. Also, investors with self directed IRA's are looking for secured investments for their money. Depending on the issues involved you may be entitled to assistance through a state agency or there may be a municipal programs(block grants, area development, housing rehab funds, etc.), available. Unless you're experienced in buying and selling real estate use a good agent that can help you with your "due diligence".

As long as it's permanent disability and you can qualify for the debt to income ratios you should be able to get a mortgage.

Talk to a loan officer they would be the best to advise you.

Disability is not the issue, your income and credit are. Talk to a mortgage professional to get a clearer picture.
