Kim, you have gotten a number of different real estate agents here confirming that a house on Long Island in the $300,000 range is again a possibility. There are many places to look, and with current interest rates, you may even qualify for slightly more than that. I see that you have posted this under Home Buying in Bethpage, so that is a good area to start with when looking on the mlsli website. That is a great tool to see what is out there, and get an idea of how many things are in your price range.
The next thing to work out is the type of mortgage you can get. I can work with you on anything from SONYMA to FHA or conventional. If you qualify, there are some great SONYMA rates right now too. Give me a call and I will be happy to review this part of the puzzle for you, and also help to answer some of your questions about Long Island. I have lived in Nassau County most of my life. There are certainly homes on Long Island in your price range. I can set you up on a LIstingbook Account, but for the time being, you should look into MLSLI.com to begin your search. If you narrow down some homes in your price range, the next thing you'll want to do, if you have children in school, is search the following link: http://longisland.newsday.com/schools/rankings.php?id=tests-… You can use that site to navigate and research the school districts. I Just listed some brand new, 1 bedroom condos in Medford for $258K (Suffolk County) if you decide you want Condo living...but we have a lot of homes in Nassau County as well. There are houses available on long island for $300K. The first question is where on the island do you want to live. Second question is what are you looking for in a house.
