The answer has always been Location location. I don't like the beach because of the damp and not because I'm olde,r I didn't like it when I was younger. I moved from Hunington Beach to Mission Viejo 35 yrs. ago because I felt like it was never summer. Price wise, it cost more to buy but it will appreciate faster. Best if you can see the ocean or walk to it. Remember if you are close to the beach you will have to deal with the traffic in the summer months.
Wish you the best with your search!

There are plenty of advantages of purchasing beach homes. The obvious is the location. Location, Location, Location.....Need I say more... Your re sale will be even better, and in the peak of the market a beach home will sell for more than double others. The only possible negative would be a damp climate which hurts the bones for the older folks!

There are some amazing beach deals in foreclosure I am actually looking at for investments while the prices are so low. You can have access to some of them through my self of a company I get listings from called http://www.reoprep.com. They also have a buyer section for you.

Hello Mby,

Here are some advantages.

The climate is damper and usually much cooler. ( Some might not consider that an advantage.)

There might be an incredible view. ( Those are frequently at other locations, as well.)

While the cost to purchase is usually higher ( a definite disadvantage.) the value upon resale is usually higher, as well. ( Turning a disadvantage into an advantage, or at least neutral.)

I'm sure there are numerous other advantages, and that plenty of people will chip in, but this is a good start.

Living inland now, I DO miss my old ocean view, and the cooler temperatures.

Here's a venue from the MLS to help you in your search. Good luck in it.
