are corner lots desirable? I've seen corner lot listed as a feature in homes for sale.

Both answers are correct but in our area most subdivisions do not have a large amount of traffic. I agree that a corner lot usually has a little more yard, and you do not have a neighbor right on top of you on that side of the home. The big plus for me would be the ability to have a side entry garage. If you are dealing with a smaller lot size sometimes a front entry garage is the only possibility. Ernie,

This is a very good question....one that is a double edged sword. Corner lots normally are larger than the standard lots in most communities and provide more space. On the other hand they often look directly into a neighbors living space or yard.

Additionally, they provide twice the sidewalk to maintain and additional road traffic because of the convergence of two streets at your home.

The desirability of corner lots like anything, depends largely upon the preferences of the owner.

It really depends on the buyer's preference. Many corner lots are sometimes larger than others in the neighborhood and often will offer a little more privacy and/or views than a lot that is sandwiched between other homes. One concern with corner lots is drive by traffic. Depending on the specific location, this can sometimes be an issue. I showed a home earlier today that was on a nice, big corner lot, but the community mailboxes were on the street right next to the back yard. Could you imagine people coming and going, cars starting and stopping all day long? It really depends on the specific home and the buyer's specific desires.
