The web sites for the community or the county should have the information as should a local realtor. I will refer one to you if you do not already have one. here in Texas we do not have state or local income tax.

You should be able to find that on the website of the community you are interested in. There are a few areas in Delaware county that do impose an earned income tax. For example, anywhere in the penn delco school district: Aston township, Brookhaven boro and Parkside boro, you will have to pay a 1% earned income tax. However, the property taxes in those areas are much lower than in surrounding areas. So whether or not it would be in your favor would depend upon your income. This is a tax that, I believe, even residents that are renting in the area have to pay. You can find more information about this community on the following websites: http://www.DogTheHouseHunter.com, http://www.brookhavenboro.com and http://www.pdsd.org. More information regarding earned income tax can be found at http://www.twpordinances.info/CHAPTER892_1.htm.

The most definitive source is the municipality where you are interested in living. Call them or look on their web sites if available. Some towns have a Personal Income tax and some have an Earned Income Tax. There is a difference be aware of that and consult with your tax professional.
