The only first time tax credit available from the Federal Government at this time is for those that were and are active duty service members. There might be something locally for your state or area.

It is true that all of the tax credits have expired, but there is a grant program called CDA which can offer up to $5K towards your downpayment/costs.

Indeed, as others stated, only if you were active military and deployed while the expired credit was going on may it still be availble. Otherwise, DC first time buyers (owner-occupants) can still receive a $5,000 tax credit.

Hello Fungirl,

The tax credit in maryland expired. There is a tax credit in DC.

As the others have answered, the tax credit was actually in 2009, then extended into the first part of 2010, but all extensions have expired at this point. I have not heard of any tax credit coming, but one never knows. The exemption is DC as Jessica pointed, but that is going to run out this year.

Good luck!

Jeanne is correct with the exception of Active Military Personal. For those individuals, the $8,000 is still available, but time is running out.

Hi Fungirl,

I only see that for DC first time home buyers in 2011. Here is the link for that http://otr.cfo.dc.gov/otr/cwp/view,a,1330,q,594156.asp .

There may be a tax credit in your area, a local real estate agent would know best. We can help you find an agent in your area. call us at 866-677-6937 .
