Clayton, Ladue & Parkway North are the closes award winning schools near Washington University medical campus and are also peaceful neighborhoods to live in. Central West End has great historical homes and there are private school within 15 minutes of the area. I can be reached at (314) 223-4687 for assistance in finding the perfect home for you.

Great information already given, but you can also go to many other forums where you can get a lot of detailed information about St. Louis and the safest neighborhoods as well as the top schools in education. Hope this helps.

I think that everything said below is excellent. The key thing is to find a Realtor who is familiar with the area, who LIVES in the area, and who takes the time to understand exactly what you are looking for. Anyone can look at a map or read you a brochure, in St. Louis there is a big difference from municipality to municipality, neighborhood to neighborhood, and even street to street. Start by working with someone who understands your needs and genuinely wants to help you....everything else is a technical problem....and technical problems have technical solutions.

Hello. Dale & Terry have given you great information. One other thing to consider which may help you with your decision is the Employee Assisted Housing Program that Wash U offers to employees. Here is the link: http://aisweb.wustl.edu/hr/Benefits.nsf/pages/EmpAssistHousing. Good luck. Please let me know if I can be of further service.

Cheers,

If you go to my website, you will find links to the MO Dept of Elementary and Secondary School Dept (DESE) and to several national programs that rate school districts, you will also find links to all the school districts in the greater St Louis area that have websites where you can look at the school districts individually.

Each individual family has unique needs and wants, coupled with their own lifestyle and purchasing power, which makes a difference in where they want to live, as well as looking at the individual public school districts and private schools that service the different areas of our metro area. Terry is correct, we cannot legally steer you toward any school district or area, but we can suggest that you talk to your coworkers about where they have chosen to live and why and we can empower you to look at the state statistics about the different school districts so that you can see which districts provide the programs that you are the most interested in, which districts have the most students go on to college and which districts have the most students graduate from college. Typically people prefer to narrow down their search by school district area first, then search for homes within that area. Most of the local realtors can provide you with neighborhood information and school district information, but we try not to overwhelm you with it.

Now, where do most of my Wash U clients buy homes? Some like to be close to campus and stick to the Central West End area, but many prefer going to Clayton, Olivette, Des Peres, Creve Coeur, Kirkwood, Ladue, Ballwin, Manchester, Ellisville, Wildwood, and Chesterfield. BUT - there is no one answer for everyone - I have sold homes in South City, South County, and St Charles County to Wash U faculty and staff - each family has their own unique needs that must be met.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance

Hi,
As Realtors we are not allowed to "steer" you towards one particular neighborhood over another. However, I do understand how important schools are to your family. On my web site for each property for sale (by any company) there is a link to community info found on the details page for that property that includes info on that property's schools and teacher child ratio statistics, etc. So you could pick a few areas and find a home for sale in that area and then review the statistics and decide where you want to live. I would be happy to show you any property you are interested in. Hope you have fun exploring my web site.
