With the economy crappy and the housing market shaky,
is it a good idea to purchase a house McKeesport area? I hear there are new developments under way that should help increase the value of some homes, but I am sure that that is just in certain areas. Are there any recommendations to which areas are good and which would not be worthwile? I already have one home in mind, and as I am not in the aera, I am not sure of all of the initiatives in the area. I realize that this is a economically depressed area which is why I can find an absolutely beautiful (at least from the pictures) house for a reasonable price.

If you are able to purchase a home, It is a great time to buy. The interest rates are low and you have a lot of houses to chose from. The housing market is in a down cycle at the moment and if you purchase now when the market rebounds you will benefit from it. If you wait for the market to come back before you purchase you may just ask yourself, "why didn't I buy that house when it was ???? price" and end up paying a lot more for the house you could have bought now.
