Will the purple line be a positive influence on the neighborhoods it runs through, or a negative influence?

The purple line is a proposed light rail connecting eastern DC/PG county with the western suburbs (montgomery county) ... Will homes around these new stations go up or down in value when this system is constructed (sometime in the next 10 years)?

Metro and mass transit usually have a positive impact on a homes value. Many people like to be close to mass transit. That being said there are homes along the purple line that may be negatively impacted because they will be losing what is now open space and woods. It depends where on the route you are talking about.
