Will sellers rent a home they are trying to sell instead of selling if they have a 1 or 2 yr lease?

Larger home needed but don't want to buy at this time. I have lived in the same rental for 5 yrs but now need a larger home. Would consider a rent with option to buy or with a 1-2 yr lease.
Thanks.

I don't know what your Real Estate Market is like, but there are allot of areas where sellers are willing to do a lease with an option to purchase. It keeps them from losing a home they can't currently afford and it might help you get into a larger home for considerably less than it would cost to purchase. If you have a Realtor you have used in the past, contact them and let them know what you can afford and what you are looking for. If you don't have one currently, search out and interview a few. Be up front and honest, so they know what they are helping you accomplish. A Realtor may not make a commission on this transaction initially, depending on how the contract is structured, so keep in mind that Real Estate is how we make our living and the Realtor that helps you accomplish your goal would greatly appreciate any business you can send them in the future. I hope this is helpful.

Your best option is to contact a local realtor who can locate such properties for you through the MLS. Most sellers do not want to rent as tenants can interfere with the ability to show & sell a home.which is their primary goal. Also, depending on rental law in your area,if the house sells, you may be forced to move by the new owners.
