Interesting debate, :) I had been in a home where the seller had committed suicide. I looked into further for my buyer. Here is what I found. Unless there was damage to the home a seller or realtor does not have to disclose anything. If a person committed suicide by stabbing himself then no disclosure. But if they hung themselves on a beam causing that beam to crack, well then it would need to be disclosed.

There is a home in Cambridge where an agent was murdered. The person then set fire to the home to cover it up. They fixed the damage but still disclosed it.

I guess it is personal preference. You are concerned about it, I have had buyer who don't care and then I had one strange buyer that thought it would be cool to live in a house that someone died in. I have see it all. :)

Thanks so far for the information...If a person did die or there was some tragedy in a home or paranormal activity and I ask this question, is anyone, either the owner or the realtor obligated to tell me here in Wisconsin? Does anyone have any experiences with homes that may have had these circumstances? Thanks.

I am not sure why Trulia has $145,000 for the sale price. I went right into the public tax records. This is more accurate.

As far as your superstitions. I understand your concern. Keep in mind with older homes, many people died in their homes. This was before nursing homes. Unfortunately there is no way to know who or how many people may have died in a home.

The home was built in 1864 so I am going to guess that there may been have been some deaths of natural causes in the home. Not fact, just a guess on my part. I could be way off. :)

I hope this helps

I see what you are talking about. The public record information on trulia indicates a price of $146,000 on 5/20/09. However this is not when the property sold, since the same listing has been in effect with costomfit realty before that date. Public record prices can be for internal transfers, just as quick claiming and adding an additional spouse or other various situations. Just because it is on the public record does not mean it sold. The tax records available to me on line do not have the 5/20/09 transaction. Hope this helps.

I saw this number on trulia's price history. I am a curious person and I have to admit, a bit superstitious, so the short time of the sale is odd to me. Also, if it sold recently for a lower price, why would one want to pay any more money than the most recent purchase price? I would like to find out the history of the house. Nothing else in the area is the age of that home. What advice or opinions can the experts share with me? Should I be so superstitious or do I have any reason to be?

Hello John Doe :-)

I pulled up the history and tax records for this property. The only sales record I see was in 2003 for 161,500.

The current seller listed april 28th, 2009 for $229,900, reduced in 5/19 to $219,900, reduced in again 06/05 $209,900, July 5th 205,000, 7/30 to 199,900 and then finally Sept 3rd to $189,900 which is the current list price.

Where did you see that it sold for $145,000?

I am a local agent, if you have any other questions on the property or if you would like to see it let me know.

Brad
