Also, the crabapple area still has more undeveloped property...the east side of Hwy 400 has been more developed, while the west side has a lot of farms and estate sized properties. Also the side streets and retail were earlier to develop, overall, on the east side. It doesn't make one area better than the other, just different and you will probably find that you'll be more attracted to one side or the other.

To better analyze the state of inventory in these areas. you may want to narrow your search down to price range, attached/detached property, etc.
In general, Milton/Crabapple area is a lower density area compare to Old Milton/Lake Windward.
