Home Buying in Manayunk>Question Details

Why are home values in Manayunk decreasing?

Asked by Justin Block, Jersey City, NJ Mon May 12, 2014

I see a steady decline in overall home value for houses in zip code 19128 over the last 5 years. This is occuring while the real estate market in Philadelphia seems to be picking up. Is Manayunk no longer a good long term investment for purposes other than renting?

Justin,

Sandra hit the nail on the head with the facts that inventory is high and each case is unique, which is why it is always good to make sure you and your Realtor are on the same page.

The school system forces parents of young children to move to better areas. This is a fine community for college students, for parents of infants, as well as empty nesters. It's a shame we aren't investing properly in the next generation.

It depends on what you are looking for and what side of the deal you are on. Manayunk is currently a buyer's market due to a large inventory. A qualified Realtor should always evaluate such a purchase or sale based not just on market trends, but on each individual client's property and circumstances. Feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance.
