The best area that I know of is in Country Club. I have children who are about the same age as yours and there is no crime in my area. Lots of kids to play with and great schools close to home

I guess I need to correct my answer.

I just learned there are actualy 2 high schools in Lehigh Acres.

The one I was reffering to was EAST Lehigh High School

Turns out there is also another one on Gunnery. I must admit I havent driven around that area of town much so I didnt realize it was there.

We close on our house June 4th - We bought the house sight unseen over the internet. I would VISIT! I was just a northerner lookin' for a place to put down my roots in the winter. We won't be living here full time, so the schools are not of particular interest. If your going to be living here full time, I would come down and look at the properties before putting down roots. The neighborhoods are diverse, but don't have sidwalks and the newer sections don't have pavement. It's like Lehigh was rapidly building up and then all of SUDDEN stopped. The house that we are buying on our street are ALL foreclosures and the folks that lived there just walked away. The street that we live on have a couple of families that live there and I'm glad. It was a mixed bag when we were driving there as parts of Lehigh isn't so pretty.

You really need to come down and look at the town yourself. Its not an "area" type of town, as the feel changes from street to street.

If you cannot make it to town, make sure you walk the streets via satalite maps, and get a good feel for the areas around your house. Go into the street view mode, and you can see actual images of the houses and streets. Take your time and walk a good ways on the main roads to get a feel for areas.

Look out for half finished homes right next to you. Chances are they will be finished someday, but its hard to say when. And untill then they will be an issue to deal with, even more so with children.

The biggest thing you need to figure out is, do you want to be in a neighborhood situation, or more isolated. In my opinion this is one of the biggest differences in the town. You can look at 100 of the same house (literally, same model, same house, different location). The big difference in each one will be location.

Do you want homes behind you, nothing, or a canal?
Do you want homes right next to you, a couple of houses down, or none around you?
Do you want homes across from you?
Do you want more of a wooded area, or open field (really your only choices)
Do you want sidewalks, streetlights, freshly paved roads?

If you want to have the neighborhood feel, with streetlights, sidewalks, and paved roads, your going to have fewer choices.

If you want to be near the High School (likely smart with two kids your childrens age) your most likely going to want to be in SouthEast Lehigh.

Hi again Montauk, seems like you have alot of questions about Lehigh Acres, I would suggest that if you have not done so already, is to contact an agent directly that has the experience and knows the area that you are interested in. About your question, Lehigh Acres has three elementary, two middle schools and one high school serving students within the community. Students are also able to pick a school of choice within Lee County on an "as available basis." A charter school is in the planning stages for Lehigh Acres as is a fourth elementary school. As always I would like to assist you in any way that I can, feel free to contact me directly at the web site below, Take care and have a wonderful day!

No one except you can really answer that question.........what may be a great area to me might not be the same for you. If you haven't visited our area, come down for a few days - drive around, ask people questions, see which areas are convenient for you.

You can always check crime stats, demographics, schools and what each community has to offer online. I have a bunch of resources available on my website for just that.

I realize that's a pretty general answer but only you are going to know where you feel comfortable.

Wishing you the best,
