Unfortunately, that research will have to be done by you. I as a Realtor am not allowed to comment on the "goodness" of any area to live in. There are discrimination and ethical laws in place and for good reason. It wouldn't be fair for instance for me to give an opininion at the detriment of an area where a seller or his or her agent my be trying to get the best value for their home.

Hi Jie, Ms Maxwell is correct when she says that realtors are not allowed by law to give their opinion on which areas are "best"...even if we WERE allowed, it would still just be a personal opinion. There are many factors to take into consideration when deciding where to live, one of which is your price range, your lifestyle, and how close or far you would like to be from work. If I know these initial things, it would be a good start....you may have your choice of several neighborhoods, and from there you can do your research, maybe drive the areas, ask questions from people who live in those areas, and once you get a good feel, then you can start looking at individual homes. If you email me your email, I will get back to you with some basic questions to get you started.

Agents are bound by federal law not to discuss which zip code or street is a 'good' place to live anywhere. I would suggest finding a buyer's agent and having them tour you through several areas of Philadelphia and hone in on neighborhoods that fit your needs--amenities, homes and location. Then, you'll want to do your own homework if you still have questions regarding the particular zip or street.

Good luck to you!
