Sgirglani, Home Buyer in North Raleigh, Raleigh...

Which area is more prestigious and lively between preston or. chatsworth / carlyle subdivisions .

Asked by Sgirglani, North Raleigh, Raleigh, NC Sat Jun 15, 2013

We liked homes in all three subdivisions but are concerned about resale and liveliness in the area . Is north raleigh too quiet compared to preston .

It all depends on the lifestyle you’re looking for. Some people choose parts of North Raleigh because of the peace and quiet and they can still get properties with an acre or two lot.
I believe all the houses in Chatsworth are between one acre and two acre in size with individual septic tanks. The homes were built after 1999 and some of them have basements. Those home values are back to what they were around 2003/2004.
Carlyle is also newer and lacks a golf course if that’s something you may be looking for. Those home values are also hovering around what they were in 2003.
Preston is a much bigger, more mature, golf course community where amenities abound. A house in Preston will most likely have to be updated if it has not already been updated. Depending on the price range and the features, some of the homes have appreciated nicely. Preston also has city sewer and city water.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks Sunita for your reply . We're from NJ , originally from india . Love north raleigh homes but felt it'll be too quiet and difficult to make new friends . on the other hand Preston looked very vibrant and has the golf course but like you said there is very little inventory and needs lots of work . what would you suggest ? Glaxo is moving us to NC. Thanks.

Preston has always had a great reputation for a vital and vibrant lifestyle. N. Raleigh has a more laid back reputation but both areas deserve merit for what they accomplish and both have held values well. It will come down to what you want. Good luck!!

North Raleigh may be too quite. Howerver, many.parts of N Raleigh, North Hills or North Ridge for example, are more prestigious than Preston.

All three neighborhoods you.mention are great areas. Preston in Cary may have all of what you are looking for.

Happy house hunting

There is no doubt that the Cary/Morrisville part of the Triangle is booming right now. The opening of I540 has eased traffic congestion and new commercial and residential areas are developing at a rapid rate. North Raleigh has always been an area that holds value but if you are looking for "liveliness" look no further than Cary/Morrisville.
