FHA does not make loans, they simply insure them for lenders who fund them.

Also, FHA with the MIP Fee of 1.75% and monthly MI is actually a very costly loan! Though I do FHA loans, it is not the only option these days!

I f you Google FHA the sky is the limit. But do you really want to look on the internet for the best deal? What about a REALTOR that is regulated by the CODE OF ETHICS; meaning we have to follow rules and regulations, and not only that, but me personally, have a business relationship with lenders that had provided excellent services fro a lot of my buyers and now they are happy home owners. I will be more than happy to connect you with them, so that you can also be a happy home owner.

Look for a local banking center you are familiar with such as Chase, Wells Fargo or Bank of America for FHA financing. Walk in and meet their loan officers and see if you meet the criteria for Federal Housing Authority financing.

I would suggest trying to find local lender that work on FHA and VA loans on a regular basis. Just start asking around. We have a few in the Iowa City area that are quite capable of helping you through the process of becoming pre-approved and will offer you sound advice throughout.

Hi Karlonda,

If you are a first time homebuyer, you may be able to get up to $7,500 from the State of Florida Bond program. You will need to work with an "approved" lender and also not earn too much money. You can see if you qualify and also find a list of lenders who will do this FHA mortgage for you:

There are multiple options available. You can go with a primarily online lender like QuickenLoans, or go with the bank of your choice (I've put the link to the WellsFargo prequalification page below). There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing a bit of shopping around either. Because sellers are more comfortable with banks, it may be smart to start with a regular bank, to prevent them from refusing your offer due to the unfamiliar lender.
