Where do the final papers get sent?

Marie

I signed final papers for my new home purchase on a Wednesday. The notary is supposed to take my documents and send them off. Where are they supposed to get sent to? Back to the title company? Or back to where I have my loan? Whoever is supposed to receive them, what happens next and when do I get my keys?

The documents will be sent back to the Title Company for disbursement as appropriate to the lender, seller (developer if it is new construction), and to you as buyer. The Title Company will also record the transaction on the scheduled date, assuming that it funds on schedule. You will get your keys once it has recorded unless some other arrangements have been made.

Did you not have an agent to represent you in this transaction? They would be able to tell you all this. Even with new construction it is advisable to have independent representation.
