Where can I obtain credible info on foreclosures or bank owned properties?

I am not interested in being a scum dredger but would consider investing in a rental or retirement property if the price is appropriate. I know prices are still dropping, as mine has and will, but would consider an investment now or later. Where can I obtain such information without getting a R.E. agent excited for a quick sale. I do not want to mislead or waste the time of an agent.

Every Realtor can help you with a list and every Realtor wants your business. But I would also say that every Realtor appreciates your honesty. If your not ready to buy or are just looking around go to web sites like Realtor.com, Realtytrac.com and there are so many more.

Hi Bob,
As a REALTOR(R) here in Corona, we also have many bank repo homes and many of our clients are thinking about investing, too.
The banks list these foreclosure homes with REALTORS(R) and they are in the MLS system. Call your REALTOR(R) and let them know you would like this list emailed to you daily. Let your agent know that you will call them if you want to view any of the homes they send you. This way you can begin to watch, learn the inventory, and be able to recognize a good value when it comes up. When you are ready to buy, have that agent help you. As a buyer, there is no cost for the service, so take advantage of their knowledge! You are wise to be thinking of investment homes. None of us know when the market will turn, but we all know it will turn. And when it does, you will be well on your way to financial freedom. Best of luck to you.

Your best bet is still a real estate agent. As long as you're up front and honest with an agent about your goals and plans, then you're not wasting an agent's time! Realtors specialize in knowing everything about the market and the houses in your neighborhood, so you need to find a good agent who is in it for the long haul and will help you invest... Not every agent is "in it for a quick sale", instead a good agent will partner with you to help you make the right investments, knowing that if you make money you will continue and refer. Banks list their properties with real estate agents, so unless you buy at sheriff sale, the sale will end up going through an agent anyway, and you may as well have one on your side! Good luck!
