Earle,
http://www.norfolkdeeds.org. Open it in Internet explorer instead of Firefox or another browser. Also, you only need a paid account if you want to print the data. You will be able to not only find out what was paid for the house, but what mortgages have been filed for recording at the Registry. If you want to learn a whole lot about the financial situation of your neighbors, it is amazing what this site provides. If you want outside of Norfolk County go to http://www.masslandrecords.com.
local county registry of deeds, banker and tradesman, zillow. Or you can have a realtor earn their worth by doing this for you as prt of ther service. I have links to all these from my website. CHeck it out, Jean
This can be researched at the Norfolk County Registry of deeds. The easiest would be to contact a realtor. If you are interested because you are preparing to make an offer, realize that there are many variables that one should analyze before making an offer. Two of the most important are condition and market conditions. As I tell my sellers when we discuss a listing price "It is not what you want, It is not what you need and it is not what you paid that determines price but what a willing buyer will pay with favorable terms" that determines the price.
A few resources, all come from county tax records. 1- go to the county courthouse-FREE 2- zillow 3- ask a title company to do the search for you 4- ask your Realtor 5- ask a mortgage professional. We all subscribe to these databases. My number is on my profile if I can help you, Earle
