Hi, Pat. Thanks a lot for all of your help. I never could have done this without you. Say hi to the wife and kids for me.

Looks like the person who said the mean things about Kau deleted their messages. Some people just always need to be negative ... that was one of those people.

Shame on whoever started a bad thread about Kau...its a perfectly lovely place to live. I have a home in Discovery Harbour myself. Escorts in Ocean View? LOL! Not happening. Maybe a few pacalolo plants around but never have I ever seen an escort. Its a middle class area, certainly not many ripe pickings for an escort down there. Ocean View has been battling a bad rep for years, despite the attempts by the residents to shake that rep. There are other places on the island that are far worse for drug dealers and manufacturers...take a look around, its in Hawaii everywhere. Malalma thought Ocean View was the perfect spot to open their very high end market and its thriving. Our beaches in Kau are splendid! Anyone can go to a white sand beach (and we do have one of those too, lest some forget, below ranchos) but when was the last time you got to boogie board at the Green Sand Beach or swim at Punalu'u Black Sand? Kau is a lovely wonderful place to live and Mr. Buyer in Naalehu, you did well with Patrick Lambert. He is a very good REALTOR. Good Luck with your purchase! A hui hou!

I was the one who started the question about land in Hawai'i... not a condo in Kailua and you come to this post and poop all over Ka'u. I'm not a realtor, I am just a person who moved here from ugly Arizona who does not agree with your perception of this area. There are drug problems everywhere and again I suggest you look out of your own back door. White sand beaches may be nice, but our black sand beach is just as nice. You seem pretty aware of these escort services, how is that when I look in the yellow pages there are only 2 listed, 2 in Kona and 1 in Hilo? Knowing people in Ka'u does not make you an expert on it so you just stay away from the hearsay and talk about what you KNOW...like the poor quality of the schools in Ka'u... I agree with you there. But your post saying BEWARE OF KAU was just not right and that's why I am steamed about it. I am not trying to sell land, I am just bragging about what I got. By the way, I got a job right here in Ka'u. So, again you are wrong about this area.

You are misinformed. You don't live here so don't judge it!! There are nurseries in HOVE, farms, estates. Those things grow in soil...not rock. Are you saying Discovery Harbour and Mark Twain are drug infested and full of escorts? Try looking out your own back door on a Friday night. Kailua Kona is definately not a DRUG FREE ZONE. You are misinformed. There are forests in HOVE. It is not all rock... and some people like the rock. They want to take the land and design and grow and their own Garden of Eden. It takes me an hour 15 minutes to go to Walmart in Hilo or Walmart in Kona...Pending traffic in a couple spots. It's a beautiful drive. People from all over are use to commutting an hour or more to work every day. But, none have a beautiful ride like we do. I still recommend this area. I live here so I know better.

Since posting this question back in August I met Patrick Lambert who is a Realtor at Kau Country Properties. I have since purchased a lot in Mark Twain Estates and will be closing very soon. I am very happy with Kau and think the previous poster is not informed. There is more to Kau than HOVE and considering HOVE is the busiest subdivision in all of Hawaii right now, it can't be too bad. I come from Arizona and though I purchased in Mark Twain so my kids can be closer to school, I think HOVE is better than most places in Arizona. My realtors website is very informative about Kau http://www.patrickjlambert.com

We have the only Statewide MLS search for vacant land in Hawaii. Do a Power Search on http://www.prudentniallocations.com. Select an area of interest on the Big Island and choose the "vacant land" checkbox. Lots of options in the $750's.
