Where are the monthly Home Owners Association fees for condos posted?

Asked by A.c. Kalker, Dallas, TX Wed Mar 4, 2009

I am curious as to why the Home Owners Association fees for each unit advertised are excluded from the listings?

Realtors work with the multiple listing service every day. Listings on MLS have over 400 data fields on each property. You're right that for townhouses and condos with association fees that that information would be useful to know. Unfortunately, only a limited number of MLS data fields are actually shown on other sites and some fields are prohibited from public display.

HOA frequency and amount of fees is not one of the fields normally displayed. If you ask for a particular property or properties, we can supply those.

It is an agent responsibility to put the HOA fee in MLS report. There is no reason the HOA fee to be excluded from the listing.

Each HOA varies based on all locations around the Dallas Fort Worth area. The less amenities on property less HOA dues are. If high rise those fees are high based on number of staff manage daily functions of building.

Good question. They're not always posted in MLS and often not posted on public websites. We can research if you have particular place in mind. Typically they will vary some on size and amenities. Always a good idea to check as some are low and some outrageous.

Hi A.c.

Sometimes they are excluded because the listing agent has not put them into the MLS. Sometimes it's limited by the site (ie Trulia, Realtor.com, etc.). The MLS data feed I use on my web site includes the association fee amount (if it's put into the MLS by the listing agent/office).

Use the link below to try it out - no registration required. Click on the featured condo listing and see the HOA dues are $388 a month.

Warmest Regards,

Typically they are not posted her on Trulia. When you are working wih an agent depending on the property the agent should be able to tell your or show you. If you are unrepresented I would be happy to help, I provide top quality services and rebate you 20% of my commission after closing.

Thanks for your time
