Kperry14, Home Buyer in

When it comes to the appraisal and home inspection I (the buyer) know that I am the one paying for them off the bat. Can I pay in cash?

Asked by Kperry14, Thu Aug 30, 2012

Can I use someone else check?

Hello Kperry14,

Funds for those items can come from anywhere. The funds in a transaction that matter, need a track record or "sometimes" have to be available are your down payment and in some cases your closing costs.

Cash is king. Get a receipt for tax purposes.

Absolutely, you can pay in cash and/or you can use someone else's check for either of these two items. They are both generally items that are paid for outside the closing process.

The inspector peobably won't care who pays him, or what form it is in, as long as it is legal. Your lender won't require a home inspection, but if you have the written report, but a licensed inspector, that is all they could ask for.
