unit owners responsibility to do so. There are adjoining walls and at this time no one has insurance to cover the structure. What needs to be done?

the condo association HAS to cover a naster policy for the common structure and the indovidual owners insure the shetrock in. As well the master policy covers the liability for the common areas. get it now as a fire could wipe you out financially.

The president of the association says that by law he only has to carry liability. I don't have a problem getting my own policy but if something happens and the building is destroyed and I'm the only one with coverage what happens. Besides, how do I get a policy to cover structure for 1/8 (8 unit condo) of a building and in the case of disaster
will that policy even pay out?

Your association had better get a master policy in effect quickly. There are severe liability issues here. Was there a policy in place that lapsed? Your by-laws should make it mandatory for your association to have this policy. It should be a line item in your annual project as a projected expense. As an association member, you can make a written requested to your board to review association financials.

Hope this helps.
