When a realitor says we are $35,000 off for a trade of two houses, should we expect to meet in the middle?

Our 2005 new construction house is listed for $160,000, the house we are looking to trade for is listed for $265,000 (new construction). We have asked for more upgrades raising the price to $278,000. After our first offer we were told by the realitor we were $35,000 off. We are looking in a brand new develepment in NW lincoln, Nebraska so comparable sales are hard to find on the other house. Our house has been on the market for 8 weeks and the other house has been sitting for at least 8 months. What should be our next move in the negotiation?

Thomas,

I have some ideas that may be of use to you in this situation. Do you currently have a Realtor? If not, I would love to help you in your situation. If you do have a Realtor, I would suggest you work out your situation with them.
