Mrs. Bluitt - Mark McNitt answered your question very well by giving you the many things that a Realtor CAN provide for you and help you with, as well as some good resources and ways you can check out a neighborhood on your own. A Realtor's job is to provide you with as many resources as possible so that you can make your own decision about a particular neighborhood.

Mrs. Bluiett. Realtors cannot answer these type of questions as we follow a code of ethics and we don't keep that information anyway. We can answer real estate questions like what is the average sales price on the street, are values going up/down, number of foreclosure or rentals, etc.

You might want to review crime at the Houston Police Dept's web site. http://mycity.houstontx.gov/crime/ And in regards to demographics, check out this fun site and compare to where you live now http://www.zipskinny.com/

Finally, drive through the area! Visit the local churches and schools. Speak to a police officer on the local beat. "Google" the area or street name to see if anything comes up. There is a lot of information out there and we as Realtors can point you in the right direction.
