Actually, there's another reason. Women were getting hormone replacement therapy about 15 years ago and rates went up. Now, rates are down quite a bit and the only reason they are a bit higher is that everyone gets diagnosed very, very early via digital mammography. They will never die of it, they get diagnosed at age 80, for example.

If you think women are not dying of Breast Cancer you have no idea what your talking about! Furthermore, let me speak for all of us who have been diagnosed with this deadly disease when I say your posting is misleading, incorrect and actually very offensive.

Mill Valley is subjected to the winds coming off the Pacific Ocean. Directly outside the Golden Gate is the Farallon Islands. These islands were used from the early 1900's up till about 1960 to dump countless numbers of steel barrels full of toxic radio active material from X-ray development. These steel containers are now in a state of full disintegration and are leaking huge quantities of radio active materials into the local fishing areas as well as being carried by winds into the areas surrounding the SF Bay. This is a very likely source of the high cancer rates being discovered in the surrounding areas including Mill Valley.

Cancer rates linked to higher alcohol consumption per capita.
