In this area, commission is typically 6% of the price that the home sells for. The buying and selling agent split this fee and commissions are paid at closing.

The agent commission structure is set by the seller. It is normally 5-6% of the final sales price. The Listing and Buyer's Agent will usually split that 50/50. Sometimes, the Buyer's Agent may get more than 50% if the seller is paying

Hi Mparran,

All real estate commission is negotiable - there is no set amount. That said, the average commission a seller pays (the seller usually pays commission for both the seller's agent and the buyer's agent - the buyer usually doesn't pay any commission to agents) is 5%-6% of the purchase price with half going to the seller's agent and half going to the buyer's agent (usually - it is decided/negotiated between the agents). Commission is paid to the agents when the deal closes (Title is transferred).
