What is the typical length of time between going into contract with the seller and closing?

The activities I'd want to do between those two points is shop around for mortgages and also save extra money for closing costs.

Here in Brooklyn NY, it can take anywhere between 6-8 weeks depending on the property, the attorneys and contingencies.

Depends on the property, are there any existing liens that need resolving, is it a short sale, is the seller ready to move by closing day, how quickly will the lender move, how quick are the attorneys involved.....generally if all is well, it can take anywhere from four to six weeks; for an accurate answer consider asking your agent and loan officer the question...

A lot of it depends on your lender and the time they need to process your loan. 45 days is about the average time for a normal transaction.
