It's absolutely beautiful!!
MIke's right. There are also several lakes and ponds; some allow motorboats and others do not. Canoeing is very popular. It is up in the hills. The Appalachian Trail runs through it. Cross country skiing is a draw in the winter. The population increases greatly in the summer months. The black flies can be hidious in June! Plan on getting your groceries and gas on the way up, although the General Store just reopened. It is not far off the Pike, and the countryside is wooded and peaceful.
Becket is the largest mass of land but has a low population in western mass, the taxes are relatively low and you can find "bargain" second home purchases in the area. Lee is 20 minutes away, pittsfield 35, lots of hiking trails, jacobs pillow, if you like the country, then this is the town for you, if not, stay away......
Not much like the pitcher for the Red Sox. I think it's because Josh has an extra T.
