Mike, You ABC15 news reported on the top 10 safest cities in Arizona. You can see their report here: http://www.abc15.com/news/state/list-10-safest-places-in-ari…

Also, once you identify a potential city, you can check on the crime activity with http://www.crimereport.com as well as http://www.spotcrime.com. These are 2 sites that I frequently use to identify crime activity.

Mike, Did you really ask in ARIZONA? Maybe the Grand Canyon, perhaps the Coconino National forest, even Mt Lemon? If you were to narrow down the neighborhood by City and then general area, then you could go to that City's web site and get crime stats. http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov has a great web site that can answer any question you have regarding Scottsdale.

Hi Mike!

Safety is a HUGE concern for the majority of clients. But really, there's no simple answer to that question. Your best course of action is going to be to have a sit down with a real estate agent that has not only been in the real estate industry for a long while, but also has lived in the Valley for a long while. Discuss your determining factors for "safety" and your agent can help you go from there.

Best of luck!

Everyone has their own definition of "safe". It's important for each individual to do their own research to ensure that they are comfortable with an area they are considering.

This is a difficult question to answer. "Safe" is a subjective term. Do you mean crime free? I do not think that there are any places that are totally crime free. Do you mean safe for investment? There are neighborhoods that are better investments than other areas. Even the safest are can be subject to a change overnight. The best solution is to investigate the concern using a variety of sources.

If crime is your concern, you can use the Trulia crime maps as a starting point. You can contact the Scottsdale Police Dept to ask specific questions about a neighborhood.

Of course, if you can afford to live in neighborhoods that are double guard gated and patrolled regularly it will likely have a low crime rate. If your budget is lower then maybe you will have to be more vigilant.

If you are asking specifically about Scottsdale I think you will find that the crime rate is lower than most other places, but again no place is perfect.
