Hi Pam,

The amount of ocean you can see, and how close you are to the ocean will affect the price. There are some ocean views from San Elijo Hills in San Marcos (right next to Carlsbad). That area right now has about the best price per square foot for an ocean view. You are roughly 7 miles from the ocean there.

Carlsbad has been a fun zip code over the last few years. Giving the current market in the area It is a great time to buy. The following link will take you to Carlsbad listings that are 4/3 and have remarks that say ocean view.

FIRST ANSWER
Hi Pam
I did a quick search came up with 19 listings starting range around low $700,000's going up to $3,975,000. There is a wide range of ocean views.
