When buying a home with a well, the water should always be tested. Another part of the due diligence is pullings the home's file file at City Hall. The public records may help in determiming whether there is and may have been any health concerns with the water, septic etc.

One excellent resource for this issue is the City of Stamford's website at cityofstamford.org. From there, the issue is discussed and a map is present showing the areas of contamination and the specific chemicals. On the website uses the pull down menu for departments and choose Health Department. From there on the left is Well Water Testing. That will give you a brief update. From there phone the Health Department with anything further. THey can best comment on the well water remediation process moreso than any realtor. They are a great resource.
