To provide some understanding of the locations of each of those towns starting from Walnut Creek (the furthest of the towns mentioned from San Francisco), the following is the correct order for the BART stations together with rush hour travel time to Embarcadero station in SF (first one in SF): Walnut Creek (34 minutes, Lafayette (30 minutes), Orinda (25 minutes), Rockridge, MacArthur, 19th St. Oakland, 12th St. Oakland, West Oakland, and Embarcadero in SF. The next stop in SF would be Montgomery St. - also in the financial district. For full schedules, see http://www.bart.gov.
Hi Pat,
A really good source for determing the fastest way to get from Point A to B using public transit is http://www.511.org Take a look at their "Public Transit Trip Planner."
You can also see BART schedules and a City-based system map at http://www.bart.gov/schedules/index.aspx
Best, Steve
All those have BART stations except Moraga, although from there Orinda would be the logical station. To Embarcadero (the first SF station stop) it's 34 min. from Walnut Creek, 30 min. from Lafayette, and 25 min. from Orinda. More at http://www.BART.gov. You might also want to consider the parking situation at each (not the same all over).
Hi Pat,
Access to BART is dependent on where in those cities you live, but on average, you should give yourself around 15 minutes to got to the BART station.
Regards,
Suzanne Looker
Hi Pat,
Walnut Creek, Lafayette and Orinda have a BART station. From Walnut Creek to San Francisco (Embarcadero) is 34 minutes, from Lafayette is 30 minutes and from Orinda is 25 minutes. Moraga residents access BART from either Lafayette or Orinda.
