The best time of year is only part of the question. We often find people looking ahead for vacation/retirement homes and condos arriving between May - October anticipating retirement at the beginning of the year or beyond. However, the highest inventory to consider with the shortest time on the market usually starts between Nov. and Jan. and as they remain on the market for any time chances are the prices may be reduced. Condo season based on viewings tends to be higher in the winter season with stronger sales volume during that time. Homes tend to be consistent on viewings throughout the year.

If you are considering vacation/retirement homes in this area, the best method is to get registered with a real estate agent who can provide you with listing information on an automatic notification search or, if they have established a ListingBook website, you can be set up where you can change your search criteria to view properties. Hi Carol
As Far ar the good time of the year, to buy a vacation/retirement home usually ,end of spring and summer time where some snow birds decide to put their houses on the market after they enjoy the weather of winter and spring. so you may have more options. But I must Say Now is a great time to buy for the many good reasons mentioned here.
Good Luck

Hi Carol,
I am in Punta Gorda but have been working with a friend and looking all over. There are amazing deals all over.
Last weekend we were in Gulfport and nearby and there were a few good buys. So to answer your question now is the time. Interest rates are low and prices are the low.
Good luck!!

Carol,
Now is indeed the best time in over a decade to buy real estate in Florida. In my observation there is less than a 3% difference in the number of tranactions in season (Feb March before snowbirds return home & Aug, Sept when vacationers return home) and the number of transactions I complete throughout the rest of the year. December defies all logic by being the most productive month of the year for my business.

According to the Suncoast Multiple Listing Service, the number of real estate transactions have incresed significantly each month since the start of the year and a resulting decrease in the total number of listings. Still there are lots of great opportunities and selection.

Do your research on line then come on down and stake your claim on a piece of Florida sunshine.

The best time to buy is probably right now. Home prices have fallen significantly and mortgage interest rates are the lowest they have been in 18 years. I can help you find just the right home for you.
