Hi Mommyrocks!
South Jersey has some great towns that have lower taxes and reasonably priced homes! We have a lot of people commute from North Jersey and New York because they can afford so much more here.
It is very important to take that first step and contact someone who can tell you what you can afford.
Feel free to contact me if you'd like more information! I'd be happy to help!

Do you work out of the home? need daycare? have family that you want to be close to? Do you want to be close to public transportation or are you able to drive? Lot's of areas to consider but we need to narrow it down a bit.

Hi As a Mom I know what is important. I know you wantb safety and good schools to name a few. I don,t know what you can afford but I can help you to speak to a mortgage lender to determine that. I would say Morris county with low taxes.Maybe a condo so you don,t have to worry about maintainance. Email me direct at carol.eisenstein@prudentialnewjersey.com and I am sure I can help.

Hi Mommyrocks,

Before I can provide a recommendation, please let us know what is "low income", what's the amount? Also, what are you looking for in a town?

Thanks.

Mom- Delaware? New Jersey is not a great place for low-income persons. Our living costs are really high. Sorry, but you will have to work on your income stream to find "the best." I recently had a young person attempt to find suitable housing in Trenton, for a purchase. What could be afforded could not be lived in.

Seriously, Delaware might be the closest area with lower costs for the equivalent standard of living.

Life is not easy, sorry to say. While money is not everything, it seems to be way ahead of whatever’s in second place.

My very best wishes for you.
