It is known to the Hastings community as the Burke Estate after Billie Burke, Glenda the good witch in the Wizard of Oz. It is now used for the High School playing fields and by the adjoining properties as an informal village green in the summer for soccer and softball and jogging on the cross-country course and sledding and cross country skiing in the winter. Sunset is beautiful on the high open fields ringed by trees. Remnants of the old estate remain. It is not for sale, but our house next door at 64 Farragut Avenue is. We have particularly enjoyed the views over the beautiful green space without having to mow it! The Burke Estate is a special open space much treasured by the local community and is located on Farragut Avenue just south of the high school.
