This question made me decide to post the stats for 78704. Right now there are 85 houses for sale ranging from $259K up to 2.9 million for sale in 78704. The typical home sells for $572K after an average of 143 Days on the Market. The most recent closed sales range from Low-$121.87PSF, Average $$254.06, up to a High of $$453.13PSF. These sales took place between Jan. 2012 to April 2012. The homes in this zip code range from 1910 construction up to brand new homes under construction now. Please note a lot of the new construction is condo's and free-standing condo developments of 2-4 on what was a single family lot. There are still some lovely single family homes left in this area and they are very sought after. I have lived and worked in 78704 for about 20 years so give me a call if your looking to buy or sell in the "hip zip"!

This is another case of yet another developer trying to intesify the density in the sought after 78704. The last time this property sold was before 1998 and it was just a 1940's single family home. The house was recently torn down for a new condo project of two units on zero lot line development. This new structure has two units with approximately 1800SF each that is under construction now. The back unit B is completed. These condos have a Mandatory HOA fee of $85 per month in addition to the property taxes. The tax rate is 2.31% so the actual taxes will depend on what the unit sells for. The first completed condo sold outside the MLS so no records are available. Unit A is listed for $569K which is $303 Per Square Foot, which is pretty high even for 78704. I have lived and worked in 78704 for many years, please give me a call if you want help. There are two great resources to help you understand property taxes in Travis County, both available online.

The Travis Central Appraisal District (http://www.traviscad.org/) allows you to look up tax valuations by property address (and other fields). The 2012 Preliminary Valuation is $348,160.

Obviously, assessed value is only part of the equation - the other two keys are understanding tax rate and exemptions. Without knowing your unique situation, it's impossible to know what exemptions you may qualify for.

The Travis County Tax Office (http://www.traviscountytax.org/goHome.jsf) allows you to look up copies of tax bills, allowing you to see what last year's total bill was. The tax bill last year (with a lower valuation, last year's rates and no exemptions) was $6521.38.

Hello, Dunya,

That is a very nice condo. The property tax is just under $6400, but that is without exemptions. If you buy any property in TX, as a homeowner you will get the homestead exemption, which will lower your property tax by a few hudred $$.
