It is difficult to give a price/sf cost, as there are many variables involved. For example, piling (raised) construction is more expensive than building on a slab or crawlspace, and the flood zone in which the property is located may determine the type of foundation needed. In addition, building directly on the oceanfront will be more expensive than building inland, due to the added costs necessitated by code parameters (e.g., breakaway walls). Lastly, it will also depend on the level of upgrades chosen. For example, vinyl siding will be less expensive than fiber cement board siding, carpet vs. hardwoods, granite vs. Formica, as well as upgraded lighting, plumbing, etc. It is best to meet with several builders, share with them your floor plan, and allow them to assist you in choosing products that fit your budget.
